Carla Dillon is not your typical run-of-the-mill mumprenuer.

The mum of two girls from the small town of Goondiwindi on the Queensland/NSW border will adamantly tell you that her business Little Button Essentials, happened for a reason and out of necessity.

“When my eldest daughter Savannah was a baby, I struggled to find creams and ointments for her that wouldn’t lead to an allergic reaction,” she explained. “She would get covered in rashes and she even had a large birthmark on her leg which ulcerated and we had difficulty healing.”

25 weeks into her second pregnancy, Carla was required to stop her work as a caseload midwife and restfully await the arrival of baby number 2. She used this opportunity to extensively research alternative solutions which would be safe on any baby’s skin. Being an experienced midwife gave her the perfect skill base to get started.

Carla began researching what midwives were using in neonatal intensive care nurseries on the most fragile of babies – her theory: if it was safe enough for them, it would be safe enough for every baby. She found that olive oil and beeswax were the only products deemed safe enough to use.

Armed with this knowledge, the experimenting of different recipes and methods began – all from the stove top in the kitchen of her family home. She then added different essential oils and blends until she created the perfect product for her new baby. It would be an all-natural product safe for use on the most sensitive of skin... to read more about Carla's story click here to see her story in our Christmas E-Mag!
