Let me start off by shouting out a MASSIVE THANK YOU to those who have taken the time to check out the Rural Makers Website. It is certainly work in progress, and early days at that - so please send me any feedback you may have!
The purpose of this first blog post is to firstly introduce myself - my name is Samantha Noon and I am loving partner to one and Mummy to two. We live on a grain and cotton farm in North West NSW with our pet Border Collie, Shadow. I have always been passionate about rural life and issues having grown up helping my Mum and Dad with their beef cattle operation, and then going on to study Agriculture at University. For years now, I have been trying to come up with a way that I could help the people of rural and regional Australia be heard above a cluttered social media space. Rural Makers is my answer.
What is Rural Makers?
Rural Makers is a bit of everything - it morphs and changes as needed. In essence, its mission is to promote and support small business in rural, regional and remote areas of Australia. This will be achieved through a number of events, projects and of course social media campaigns. I have already held our maiden event - The Rural Ladies Evening in Boomi, NSW - last week, but more on that later. I also have a few other projects in the pipeline, so keep posted!
Thanks again for tuning in. Please don't forget to subscribe, so you can stay up to date with all the Rural Maker going-ons.
Cheers,
Sam
